Retraining for Encore Careers!

Picture
The Baby Boomer generation (now turning 65) will redefine retirement.  They will, either by choice or by necessity, continue to work later in life.  Some will contribute to society in large numbers through volunteering or choosing work that has a social purpose.  Macomb’s Workforce & Continuing Education has long been an established pathway back to college for older adults.

Together, with other college departments and community partners, we develop marketing strategies to recruit students to a campus that understands their needs through noncredit course development, counseling and assessment tools, and
career transition services.

To the left is a PDF of a student survey our Institutional Research Department did for us in order to better serve our age 50+ students. The Executive Summary reveals that these students are most interested in re-careering in social purpose driven careers such as health care, education and social services. They also are very interested in personal enrichment courses relating to positive aging strategies.
